I Worked on 48 different projects during my time at Primal Wear, and here are my five favorites!
First I have my Year of the Dragon jersey for the Inline brand of Primal Wear. I was approached to create an illustrated jersey that incorporated a glitch effect. The design was meant to tie in with our brand identity of bicycle wear.
Next, I created some jerseys in two different colors for Memorial Herron. They provided a reference image of a brightly colored mural with thick outlines that they wanted to be re-created, as well as having their logo across the chest. Since they were proud Texans, I used the Houston skyline as my main focal point, using the thick outline style mentioned before.
I received a job from the Allyson Whitney Foundation to design a jersey for their upcoming cancer awareness bike event. They gave me creative freedom with the design as long as I interestingly incorporated their logo. I have decided to use their logo, which looks like a highway intersection, as a system of roads for bikers to ride across. I have incorporated some interesting gradients and clouds to create a calming effect.
Then I had another Inline Request. They wanted a retro-feeling t-shirt from the 70s. After some research I went with a pattern I felt was very Groovy to match the style of the era.
Finally, I had another job for an Awareness Rally for an Event called "Bike to Cure". They had specific brand colors, patterns, and Imagery we had to work with and had strict brand guidelines on how they were to be used. In the end, I created a pattern I felt was visually interesting without deviating from their requirements.
My Internship At Primal Wear provided me with a lot of industry experience very quickly and in a short period. I gained a heavy amount of experience with the production, printing, and color correction of clothing and accessories. I also learned how to effectively talk with clients and follow their brand guidelines to ensure consistent brand representation. most importantly, I gained experience in a professional design environment, teamwork, and problem-solving that I found extremely valuable to my growth as a professional and artist.
